The Delhi-NCR region, particularly NOIDA, Greater NOIDA, and YEIDA regions of Gautam Buddha Nagar, has witnessed rapid economic growth and urbanization in recent years. However, this progress has not been inclusive, leaving behind a significant portion of the population, particularly migrant laborers and daily wagers. These communities face numerous challenges, including limited access to quality education and skill development opportunities for their children and women. The lack of adequate educational resources, coupled with systemic barriers such as gender inequality and financial constraints, perpetuates a cycle of poverty and hinders the overall development of the region.
Under The Tree Project has provided basic education to over 1500 children through an unconventional and personalized approach. The project focuses on understanding each child’s individual learning needs, offering a flexible curriculum, and conducting assessments that prioritize maintaining interest in education. Recognizing the importance of psychological and emotional support, the project aims to nurture the dreams and aspirations of these children, empowering them to overcome their socio-economic challenges.
In addition, a Digital Study Centre (DSC) has been established. The DSC has successfully provided both online and offline learning opportunities to over 150 children at the secondary, higher secondary, and university levels. Our offerings include various professional courses in Graphic Designing, Basic computer learning, Accounting and study support for various graduate study programs like Bachelor of Computer Application(BCA), Bachelor of Business Administration(BBA), etc. Additionally, we have developed a library of over 2000 books and a reading room, providing access to a wealth of knowledge and a space for quiet study. A host of newspapers and periodicals are also available electronically, further enriching the learning experience.
We now propose to expand our reach and impact by developing and launching a mobile and web-based Learning Management System (LMS) application. This innovative platform will provide flexible basic education and professional courses to less privileged children of migrant laborers and daily wagers. The LMS will prioritize ease of learning, offer diverse learning options, and promote future sustainability through a comprehensive range of professional courses. Furthermore, we will provide high-quality learning materials in both online and offline modes for aspirants of various competitive exams coming from these marginalized sections. We also propose to enhance our existing library and reading room facilities, making them even more accessible and beneficial to the community.
This project aims to break the cycle of poverty by empowering young children and women through enhanced learning, skill development, and a guided learning management system, complemented by a robust library and reading environment. By addressing the root causes of educational inequality, we strive to create a more equitable and prosperous society for all.
At Under The Tree, we believe that every child deserves access to quality education—regardless of their social or economic background. Together, we can bridge the gap and build a brighter future for India.
